BICHON FRISE PUPPIES - BEAUTIFUL AND AKC REGISTERED
(Pronouced: Bee-shahn Free-Zay)
The Internet brings shopping right to your fingertips, but it can be a little
overwhelming when searching for the right Bichon Frise puppy for you and
your family. A and J Kennel is a reputable Bichon Frise breeder with 18
years experience, beginning on May 9, 1990. We are in good standing with
AKC, and we are members of the Better Business Bureau.
We hope you will consider A and J Kennel when making the important decision
to purchase a Bichon Frise puppy.
Whether you purchase a Bichon Frise puppy from A and J Kennel or from someone
else, make sure you are committed to the proper care and training for a
puppy. Always ask the family members how they feel about this new responsibility.
Your Bichon puppy will need lots of tender loving care from the entire family.
Caring for your puppy will include: A quality puppy food, clean water at
all times (preferably non-chorine) his own bed area with year-round comfort,
and regular visits to your veterinarian. Hopefully, you will also have a
fenced in yard for safety, playtime, and plenty of exercise.
Our puppies are kept clean from the day they are born, and receive daily
love and attention. We take pride in our kennel! Please contact us for availability.
Also, visit our available
puppy photo gallery link above. Our Bichon Frise puppy prices
are listed below.
PUPPIES WILL HAVE: AKC registration, dewclaws removed,
first shots/worming, veterinarian checks, at about 6 weeks and again when
getting their health certificate before shipping, two-year limited
guarantee, and a copy of the sire's and dam's pedigree. References will
be sent upon request. (Vaccinations/worming are given according to the schedule
at the bottom of this page). Shipping options are available to most major
airports in the continental USA. (See our shipping prices below).
SPAY/NEUTER: We recommend that you have your pet spayed
or neutered, at a time decided by your veterinarian. Females are usually
spayed at six to eight months, males four to six months. We do not require
a spay-neuter contract, but the AKC puppy paper will be marked AKC limited
registration for pets only. If breeding options are desired, the potential
breeder will be screened, and full AKC registration is $100.00 higher than
the limited registration pet price. (See prices below).
PICTURES: Pictures of the puppies will be posted in
the available
puppies gallery when the puppies are at least a week old (we don’t
like to disturb mom too soon after she has her babies). When new pictures
are taken (about every two weeks) the album will be updated with the new
pictures of the available puppies. New pictures will also be sent to our
customers, so they can see the progress of their puppy.
FOOD: Our puppies are fed NutriSource Puppy Food, starting
at about 3 to 4 weeks of age. Our puppies are weaned at about 7 weeks of
age. All of our customers receive NutriSource Puppy Food packs. For puppies
that are shipped, the food is placed on the top back of the carrier. For
puppies that are picked up at our home, the food is given to our customers
at pick up.
GETTING PUPPY READY: A few days before the puppy is
ready to go, generally at 9 weeks old, we take the puppy to our veterinarian
for the final vet check and health certificate. Puppies are bathed and groomed
a day or two before being picked up here, or shipped by air. If a puppy
is shipped, the carrier is prepared with all appropriate labels, shredded
paper for absorbency, and food and water (ice—so it melts slowly)
inside. Food packages will also be sent on top of the carrier. For puppies
that are shipped, the vaccination record will be under the shipping label
on the top front of the carrier, and an extra copy of the vaccination record
will be sent with the AKC papers. For puppies that are shipped, we will
send a detailed message explaining everything, including the flight information,
and pick up location. I also send a message with puppy tips on care (via
e-mail) for puppies shipped by air, or the puppy tips are printed out and
given to the customer, if the puppy is picked up at my home. When a puppy
is picked up at our home, the customer provides the pet carrier. In most
cases, we do not deliver puppies by car.
THE PAPERS: The puppy's AKC Dog Registration Application
(puppy paper) an extra copy of the vaccination record, the guarantee (2
copies, one for you to keep and one for you to send back to me) and a pedigree
will be mailed by regular mail or placed on the top back of the carrier
under the food. For puppies picked up at my home, the papers will be given
to the customer. Make sure you read, sign and date both copies of the guarantee.
When you take your puppy to your veterinarian for the initial exam, you
are required to get a note from your veterinarian on the condition of the
puppy, and return it to me with my copy of the guarantee. Make sure you
have your veterinarian SIGN AND DATE THE NOTE, because the date on his note
proves the puppy was examined within the required time. The note can say:
"I found the puppy to be in good health". A copy of your veterinaian's
statement may be sent as proof the examination instead of a note.
Here at A and J Kennel, I have committed years to the proper care of my
dogs and puppies. I hope this information helps you with your decision,
commitment, purchase, and care for your Bichon Frise puppy. Of course, I
love to keep in touch and receive updates and pictures from my customers
of the puppies they have purchased from me.
Dogs are loyal and always love you—no matter what!
MAN'S BEST FRIEND
My Bichon is a loving dog and even likes my cat.
He got up in my chair one day, for that is where I sat.
He likes to cuddle, kiss and play, or take a walk with me.
Forever true and loving too, he's my best friend you see.

BICHON FRISE DISCRIPTION:
The Bichon Frise weighs from about 10 to 20 lbs., with a body length slightly
longer than the height at the shoulder, which is from 9 (absolute minimum)
to 12 (absolute maximum) inches tall. The hair coat is white, does not shed
and is hypoallergenic. Ten percent color is allowed, such as cream, buff,
or apricot, and is usually on the ears. The coat is thick, with a soft under
coat and a curly outer coat, and will require regular grooming to prevent
the hair from matting.
The Bichon Frise is a long-lived, wonderful companion animal with a great
disposition, being smart, sensitive, playful, and loving.
BICHON FRISE HISTORY:
Bichon Frise (Bee-shahn Free-Zay)
The Bichon Frise is a descendent from the Barbet or now extinct Water
Spaniel Barbichon, later shortened to the name Bichon. Bichons were divided
into four groups: The Bichon Maltais, the Bichon Bolognais, the Bichon Havanais,
and the Bichon Teneriffe. All of these groups originating in the Mediterranean
area.
This happy little dog had artistic references implying the Bichon may
have dated back to 200 B.C. or before. It is more acceptable to believe
that Spanish sailors introduced the Bichon to the Canary Island of Teneriffe,
where the name dubbed "Teneriffe", gave elegance, charm, and commercial
value for sale and trade to the common Bichon name.
Italian sailors are thought to have introduced the little dogs to Italian
nobility during the fourteenth century, where the dogs of that era were
often cut "lion style". During the French invasions of Italy in
the fifteenth and sixteenth century, the Teneriffe was prized and brought
home to France by returning warriors. Thus began the great success of these
treasured little dogs until about the twentieth century when their popularity
faded, and they became the “common dog”.
At the end of World War I, fanciers recognized the potential of the breed,
and began establishing controlled breeding programs. The breed was known
as Teneriffe and Bichon. In 1933 the president of the International Canine
Federation, Madame Nizet de Leemans, proposed the name Bichon Frise, based
on the characteristics of the dog, and the name Bichon Frise was adopted.
Frise refers to the soft curly coat. In 1934, the Bichon was admitted to
the stud book of the French Kennel Club. The International Canine Federation
recognized the Bichon Frise as a French-Belgian breed, having the right
to registration in the Book of Origins from all countries. The breed is
recognized in France, Belgium, and Italy.
In 1956, Bichons were introduced in the United States. In 1959 and 1960,
two breeders in different parts of the United States acquired Bichons. This
was the origin of the Bichon Frise breed in this county. The Bichon Frise
was admitted to registration in the American Kennel Club stud book in October
1972, and in the regular show class in the Non-Sporting Group in April 1973.
The Bichon Frise has worn many faces over the centuries. Whether being
offered as items for sale and trade, treasured pets of nobility, subjects
of art, dogs of the street, companions for organ grinders, dogs leading
the blind, or as dogs performing tricks in circuses, this intelligent little
dog has delighted people everywhere.

*Please note that the AKC papers will be marked limited registration for

of your dog or show for conformation (a spayed or neutered dog is not eligible
to be shown for conformation). Limited registration dogs are eligible for
other AKC events.

full AKC registration, then arrangements for this option must be made in
advance. Full registration is $100.00 higher than the limited registration

days before shipping. All the shipping arrangements will be sent to our
customers in a detailed message.
SHIPPING CHARGES:

to major airports-only the large Continental jets are used for puppies,
as Express jets are too small to accommodate puppies. Shipping is higher
with Delta, Delta partners, and Northwest Airlines.
Shipping Charges include: Air fare, the pet carrier, our transportation
cost to take the puppy to the airport, and the research time and paperwork
for shipment. When a puppy is picked up at our home, the customer provides
the pet carrier. In most cases, we do not deliver puppies by car.
All arrangements for shipping will be sent to our customers in a detailed
